Feeling Peace With The Way Things Are

FEELING PEACE WITH THE WAY THINGS ARE

By

Connie Webb

In this moment –

Clock ticking silently on the fireplace mantle not used for a fire.

Little teddy bears sit on a chair from years back when my kids were little.

Cat toys abound which my elderly cats will still play with now and again.

Small hum of the computer.

Sun peeking through clouds after a day of rain.

Small breeze casts shadows of leaves on my closed curtains.

Novembers chill has me bundled under a soft plush blanket.

Contemplative Sunday morning –

First born adult son moved out to his own place last week.

He is doing well and I am glad for him.

Happy to see his smiling face yesterday on a visit.

Second born adult daughter is quiet in her room and a joy to be around.

Me – just reflecting on all those hectic days gone by,

And now here I am,

In this moment,

Feeling peace with the way things are.
