How To Live In Poverty

Pretend it doesn’t matter that

You don’t have a car

Or money for a bus.

You don’t have savings and

You always settle for less.

Pretend it doesn’t matter that

Even some of your relatives are well to do.

Pretend it doesn’t matter when

You have to go out in a storm for medicine for your child;

You have to wait in a really long line for some food from the food bank;

You can’t buy even some necessities.

Pretend it doesn’t matter you feel

Sad,

Angry,

Depressed and

Hopeless.

Pretend it doesn’t matter you hear about

Others having wonderful vacations away;

Others sharing their nights out on the town;

Others buying new homes, new clothes, new anythings.

Pretend it doesn’t matter you see

Others going without and you being powerless to help them.

That’s how to live in poverty.
