Valentine’s Day Without A Lover

Valentine’s Day isn’t just for lovers

It can be for a family member or friend

You can show how much they mean to you

When it is your beautiful love that you send.

If you don’t give out cards

You can just be aware

That someone may need you

To show them that you care.

Even without that special someone

There are many kind single people around

Perhaps today you could be the one

Brightening up someone who was feeling down.

There are lots of people to love

Who would welcome a person like you

To tell them how special they are

Because sometimes loving words are few.

Valentines Day doesn’t have to be so sad

You don’t have to feel so hurt inside

Because there are many people you can love

If you just reach out and do not hide.

So you don’t have a lover?

You can still have fun today

Give someone else some flowers

To chase both your blues away.

  1. Happy Vals day Connie.. let me start by thanking you for this wonderful poem.. I have never had a romantic Vals day.. so i really do not have that excitement in me.. but today i did cook some good food and shared with my 3kids.. i realized.. they were somehow involved in this, more especially at school…. at the end of the day.. we all forgot to say happy val to each other.. maybe.. it is not my thing.. but i do hope to one day..

    • Thanks for sharing your day with me. Sounds like a nice day with your kids and what a nice meal you cooked for them. I am sure they appreciated it. Sounds like nice love shared today with your family. Happy Valentine’s Day to you, too. Sincerely, Connie
